Julianna Waller
Julianna Waller is a violinist,
fiddler, composer, and author (Mel Bay). She received her Bachelor of Music
Degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University. By age 16, she became a
nationally honored fiddle champion recognized at the Fiddler’s Hall of Fame.
Julianna was featured in the winter 2001/2002 issue of Fiddler Magazine
and her books Past the Print: Discovering Creative Improvisation for
String Players and Sensible Scales Plus! have received rave reviews
from numerous musicians and such magazines as Bluegrass Unlimited and
Strings. Julianna has appeared on numerous recordings including Clint
Black’s album, Nothin’ but the Taillights and has toured with such
artists as Brenda Lee, Sara Evans, Lee Ann Womack and others. Her own releases
include Daybreak and Energy Rising.
As a testament
to her versatility, she has performed on the stages of both Carnegie Hall and
the Grand Ole Opry within the same year. Her resume also includes concertmaster
of both the Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra and the Bowling Green
Chamber Orchestra, instructor of violin at Western Kentucky University and first
teacher at the Bowling Green String Academy. Currently, she plays regularly with
the Nashville Symphony, teaches privately and is director the Red River
Fiddlers, and continues to compose and record with Energy Rising.
